You know, life is good. I caught up with an old friend today --- she co-edited the high school paper with me --- and it was wonderful. The two of us and our friend Leo played a redesigned version of "Clue" that mimicks the TV show "The Simpsons." The night before that, ten people (10!!) came over to my house to hang out, and three of them stayed up all night with me, talking. We made breakfast as the sun came up and ate at my dining room table which is usually reserved for special occassions. If that wasn't, I don't know what is. Tomorrow, I spend an evening listening to the RHS bands play. I respect and enjoy the presence of those musicians more than I'll ever be able to say. Some are friends from my years in high school; others I know only as students. They're all great. On Tuesday, I'm spending the evening hanging out with a friend of mine from MSU who is moving to Oklahoma to take a newspaper job. In five days, my friend Andy comes home from Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, where he's been in Army training since January. It'll be amazing to see him and how he's changed and hear his stories. The weekend following, I'm traveling to the U.P. to visit Andrea before she leaves for two months in Australia. So what have I learned from all of this? One simple thing: I'm the luckiest man on the planet.
